The Schneider Electric A9R50440 is a 4-pole residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) from the Acti9 iID K range, rated 40 A with 30 mA earth-leakage sensitivity. The 40 A rated current (In) sizes it for sub-distribution boards feeding multiple socket outlets or lighting circuits. Operational voltage is 380-415 V AC, 50/60 Hz, which covers common European three-phase mains. Breaking capacity is 500 A — adequate for the fault levels typical at the outgoing side of a distribution board. The insulation voltage (Ui) is 440 V AC.
Integration and mounting — DIN-rail clip-on
The 4-pole body occupies 8 x 9 mm pitches — 72 mm wide — so it takes four adjacent module spaces in a consumer unit or distribution enclosure. Depth is 69 mm, height 85 mm. Wire strip length is 16 mm. Neutral is on the left. IP20 finger-safe with terminals protected; IP40 inside a modular enclosure. The toggle control gives a clear visual indication of the contact position.
Designed to EN/IEC 61008-1 and EN/IEC 61008-2-1 — the harmonized standards for residual current operated circuit-breakers without integral overcurrent protection. Carries VDE quality label. Earth-leakage protection is Type AC (sensitive to sinusoidal AC residual currents only). Pollution degree 2 (normal, non-condensing). Ambient storage range -40 to 85 °C. The residual current tripping technology is voltage independent — it will trip even if the mains voltage is lost, which is a safety advantage over electronic RCCBs that need a supply.
