What this frame is and what it isn't
The C063L4FM is a Schneider Electric ComPacT NS630bL new-generation basic frame — a 4-pole, 630 A air circuit breaker chassis rated for 150 kA Icu at 415 V AC, fixed-mounted, manually operated, and shipped without a control unit. That last point is the one that catches people: this is the bare frame, not a functional breaker. You select and install a separate trip unit (Micrologic, usually) to set the protection curves. Ordering the frame alone makes sense when you already have the trip unit on hand, are standardising on a specific model, or need a spare frame for a panel build where the electronics are provisioned separately.
Breaking capacity — what 150 kA at 415 V means on a real line
At 440 V it still holds 130 kA Icu; at 500/525 V it drops to 100 kA Icu. For a site electrical engineer building a selective coordination study, that headroom means the frame can sit upstream of multiple feeder breakers without cascading failure — the Icu at the main distribution voltage governs the fault-rating of the whole switchboard section. The Ics (service breaking capacity) mirrors the Icu values at each voltage level, so the frame can reclose after a fault at full rated interruption without derating.
Mounting and integration into a panel
Fixed mounting on a backplate, 280 mm wide × 224 mm high × 147 mm deep. Connection pitch is 70 mm. Neutral position is left. The IP40 front face and IK07 impact rating are adequate for enclosed distribution boards where the operator interface is behind a door. Overvoltage category III suits fixed-installation distribution.
It is part of the active ComPacT NS630b…1600 new generation range that Schneider continues to support with trip units, accessories, and spare parts.
