The C16B4TM100 is a Schneider Electric ComPacT NSX160B 4-pole circuit breaker with a 100 A TM-D thermal-magnetic trip unit, rated for distribution duty on AC networks at 50/60 Hz. The breaking capacity tells you where it can safely interrupt a fault: 40 kA Icu at 240 V, 25 kA at 415 V, 20 kA at 440 V, and 15 kA at 500 V. The TM-D trip unit gives you thermal overload protection (L) and magnetic short-circuit protection (I) — no earth-leakage module built in.
The 161 mm height, 140 mm width, and 86 mm depth give you the cutout and clearance numbers for the gland plate and busbar layout. Connection pitch is 35 mm, standard for this frame size. IP40 front face keeps tools and fingers out; IK07 impact rating handles accidental panel-door knocks. Five equipment slots are available for auxiliary contacts, shunt trips, or other accessories.
Durability and environmental limits
Mechanical endurance is 40,000 cycles; electrical endurance varies with load: 40,000 cycles at 440 V at half rated current, 20,000 at full rated current, and 7,500 cycles at 690 V. That's typical for a molded-case breaker in this class — the electrical life drops at higher voltage and current. Operating altitude is sea level to 2000 m without derating, 2000 m to 5000 m with derating. Relative humidity range is 0 to 95%. Utilisation category A means it's not intended for frequent switching of motor loads under starting conditions — it's a distribution breaker, not a motor-circuit protector.
