Motor circuit breaker for AC-3 duty
The GV7RS20 is a 3-pole thermal-magnetic motor circuit breaker from the Schneider TeSys GV7 range, designed for AC-3 switching duty under IEC 60947-4-1. The thermal-magnetic trip unit combines a bimetallic overload element with a magnetic short-circuit release, giving phase-failure sensitivity per IEC 60947-4-1 § 7-2-1-5-2. This means the breaker will trip if one phase drops out, preventing single-phasing damage to the motor.
Breaking capacity across voltage levels
At 440 V AC it delivers 65 kA. The continuous duty rating per IEC 60947-4-1 means the breaker carries rated current indefinitely without tripping from thermal buildup. Electrical durability is 30,000 cycles at AC-3 440 V at full rated current, and 50,000 cycles at half current. Mechanical durability is 50,000 cycles.
Panel mounting and enclosure fit
The dimensions are 161 mm height, 105 mm width, and 111 mm depth. Connection pitch is 35 mm without spreaders or 45 mm with spreaders, which matters when ganging multiple breakers side-by-side in a panel. IP40 protection with terminal shrouds (IEC 60529) suits indoor panel installation. The pollution degree 3 rating means it tolerates conductive pollution in industrial environments. Operating altitude is limited to 2000 m without derating.
Standards compliance includes EN/IEC 60947-4-1, EN/IEC 60947-2, VDE 0660, NF C 63-120, and NF C 79-130. The breaker is suitable for isolation per IEC 60947-1, meaning it can be used as a visible disconnect point in the motor circuit.
