Integrator note: CM18-12NPP-EC1
The CM18-12NPP-EC1 is a capacitive sensor from the CM series, delivering a 12 mm sensing distance with a PNP normally-open output rated for 200 mA at 10–36 VDC. The non-flush mounting means the sensing face must extend beyond the surrounding metal to avoid false triggers — plan for a 12 mm standoff from any ferrous structure. Switching frequency is 50 Hz, adequate for level detection in hoppers or material-presence on slow conveyors; not suited for high-speed counting above 30 parts per second. The M12 4-pin connector (standard A-coded) mates with common field-wireable cordsets. Verify pin 1 (brown) = V+, pin 4 (black) = PNP output, pin 3 (blue) = 0 VDC; pin 2 is unused on this variant.
Environmental and protection rating
Rated IP68 and IP69K, the sensor withstands continuous immersion (IP68) and high-pressure, high-temperature washdown (IP69K) — suitable for food-and-beverage lines or outdoor mining conveyors where hose-down cleaning is routine. Operating temperature spans -30 °C to +85 °C, covering freezer environments and hot washdown zones without derating the output current.
