The SICK GTB6-P4231 is a G6-series miniature photoelectric proximity sensor with background suppression, rated to detect objects from 5 mm out to 400 mm using a PinPoint visible red LED. The PNP output switches at 100 mA with a 1.2 ms response — fast enough for part-present sensing on a moderate-speed conveyor or pick-and-place cell. IP67 sealing handles washdown and coolant spray in machine-tool and packaging lines. The M8 4-pin connector keeps wiring clean in tight enclosures; no pigtail to dress.
400 mm background-suppression sensing means this sensor ignores objects beyond the set threshold — useful on a transfer line where a shiny belt or far wall could false-trigger a standard diffuse sensor. The 5 mm minimum sensing distance lets it detect small parts close to the lens without dead zone. 1.2 ms response translates to roughly 800 mm/s target speed before the sensor misses a pass; adequate for most packaging and assembly applications. The 10–30 VDC supply range and 100 mA PNP output are standard for PLC inputs and relay coils.
At 12 mm wide and 31.5 mm tall, the GTB6-P4231 fits a standard 12 mm slot in a sensor-mounting bracket or DIN-rail adapter. The M8 connector mates with standard 4-pin cordsets; strip and terminate per the manufacturer's pinout. IP67 means the sensor body and lens survive washdown and coolant spray — mount with the cable exit pointing down to prevent pooling.
