The GTE10-P4212 is a SICK G10-series photoelectric proximity sensor — a fixed-distance diffuse sensor with a 1.3 mm sensing range, PNP output, and a 500 µs response time. The 20 mm wide housing and M12 4-pin connector make it a drop-in for standard 20 mm slot mounts on conveyor frames or machine guarding brackets. IP67 rating means it handles washdown on packaging lines or coolant splash in machining cells without sealing concerns.
The 1.3 mm sensing distance is the key fit parameter — this is a very short-range proximity photoelectric, not a through-beam or retroreflective. It detects objects passing within a hair's breadth of the lens face, so it's suited for presence detection of small parts, label flags, or registration marks on a web. The 500 µs response time keeps up with high-speed pick-and-place or bottle counting at line speeds above 1000 parts per minute. PNP output (sourcing) matches most PLC input cards; if your system uses NPN sinking inputs, you'll need a converter or a different variant. Operating voltage range is 10–30 VDC, so it runs on standard 24 VDC control power without a separate supply. The 100 mA load current covers direct drive of a small relay or PLC input, but not a contactor coil directly — use an interposing relay for inductive loads.
Integration notes
Mounts in a standard 20 mm slot bracket. The M12 connector (4-pin, male) mates to standard M12 cordsets — no special wiring. Light-ON / Dark-ON switching is selectable via the sensor's teach or wiring configuration, so you can set it to output when an object is present (dark-on) or absent (light-on) depending on the application logic.
