The OD1-B015H05A15 is a 2D laser displacement sensor from the OD Mini series, built for profile measurement on moving targets — think edge detection, gap monitoring, or weld-seam tracking on a production line. It runs on 12~24VDC and communicates over RS485 via a cable with a 5-pin M12 connector, so it drops straight into a standard industrial network without a separate interface box. The 10.0mm to 20.0mm installation distance means you mount it with a fixed standoff — not a touch probe, not a long-range lidar. That short baseline gives sub-millimeter resolution on height profiles, but it also means the bracket has to hold position within a couple mm or the measurement goes noisy.
IP67 and the washdown reality
IP67 - Dust Tight, Waterproof means the housing and optics survive hose-down and temporary immersion. On a packaging or food line that sees daily wash cycles, this sensor lives on the machine frame without a purge-air cover — just make sure the M12 connector is torqued and the cable gland isn't cracked. Operating temperature is -10°C to 40°C, suitable for a conditioned plant floor but not a freezer tunnel or drying oven.
