The OD1-B035H15A15 is a 2D Laser Displacement Sensor from the OD Mini series, designed for precision measurement in tight spaces. It operates on a 12 ~ 24VDC supply and communicates via RS485 over a 5-pin M12 connector, giving you a clean digital signal path back to the controller. The IP67 rating means the optics and housing survive washdown and airborne particulates — no need for an extra enclosure on a dirty line. Installation distance is 20.0mm ~ 50.0mm, so the sensor sits close to the target. That short standoff is typical for laser triangulation sensors; if the part wobbles or the conveyor vibrates, the measurement window stays tight. Operating temperature from -10°C to 40°C covers most indoor plant floors but won't handle a foundry or freezer tunnel without thermal management.
Signal Integrity & Installation
Chassis-mount the sensor on a rigid bracket — any flex in the mount shows up as noise in the displacement reading. The cable with connector (5-pin M12) is factory-terminated; if you need a longer run, use a shielded M12 extension cable and ground the shield at the controller end only. Floating the field end keeps ground loops out of the RS485 signal. Supply voltage is 12 ~ 24VDC, so it shares a common 24V panel supply with PLCs and I/O. Watch the inrush on power-up — the laser diode draws a brief spike that can drop a marginal supply below the dropout threshold. Size the supply with 20% headroom above the sensor's rated draw.
