Sensor type and what it measures
The OD2-N120W60A2 is a 2D Laser Displacement Sensor from the OD Value series, meaning it projects a laser line and measures profile displacement across a 120mm span with ±60mm range relative to the reference distance. The NPN output (open collector) switches low when the target is within the programmed window — standard for legacy PLC inputs that sink current. Supply is 12~24VDC, so it runs off a common industrial power rail without a separate converter.
Chassis-mount form factor with cable leads — no connector to mate, just gland the cable into the panel or junction box. Installation distance is adjustable from 60.0mm to 180.0mm, so you set the standoff to match the target height variation; the 120mm measurement width scales with that distance.
Temperature limits and derating
Rated for -10°C to 40°C operating ambient. That 40°C ceiling is the limiting factor for enclosure placement — if the sensor is inside a sealed cabinet near a heat source (drive, power supply), verify internal temperature stays under that. No derating curve is published in the basic spec, so keep the ambient below the limit to avoid measurement drift.
