The OD2-N50W10U2 is a 2D laser displacement sensor from the OD Value series, delivering a 50mm ±10mm measurement range via NPN output. The 12~24VDC supply range means it can run off a standard 24V industrial power supply without a separate regulator — common for PLC I/O banks. The 40.0mm to 60.0mm installation distance gives a working standoff window; the 50mm center point is the nominal target distance for best linearity. NPN output (open-collector sinking) is the key interface decision: it pulls the signal line low when the target is within range, which is the standard for many Japanese-origin PLC input cards and older automation systems. If your controller expects PNP sourcing, this sensor won't drive it directly — you'd need a level converter or the PNP variant from the same series.
Chassis-mount form factor with cable leads termination: no connector to source separately, but the pigtail length must reach your controller without a splice. The -10°C to 40°C operating temperature is tight — this is a conditioned-environment sensor, not for unheated outdoor or foundry use. If your line runs above 40°C ambient, you'll need to relocate the sensor or add local cooling.
