SICK VL180-P460 — retro-reflective photoelectric sensor, PNP, 1 m range
The SICK VL180-P460 is a photoelectric retro-reflective sensor in a cylindrical 18 mm metal housing (nickel-plated brass with PBT/PC optics cover). It detects objects across a 0.05 to 1 m range using a reflector (not included). The PNP switching output is configurable for light-on or dark-on operation, making it flexible for presence, position, or gap detection on a conveyor or machine station. Rated IP66, the housing withstands hose-down cleaning and dusty environments — suitable for packaging, food processing, and general industrial floors where occasional washdown is required. The M12 4-pin connector (pigtail or panel-mount) simplifies field replacement without rewiring the cable run. Operating range is 10–30 VDC (nominal 24 VDC), with the PNP output sourcing current to a PLC input or relay. The -25 to 55 °C ambient temperature window covers most indoor production areas, though the upper limit is lower than some all-metal sensors — plan for ventilation if mounted near a hot process.
