The SICK WL12G-3O2431 is a photoelectric retro-reflective sensor in the WL12G series, delivering a 4 m sensing range with a visible red LED. The PNP output switches at 330 µs, fast enough for counting or position detection on moderate-speed packaging and material-handling lines. Rated IP66, IP67, and IP69K, the housing and optics survive high-pressure washdown and hot caustic CIP cycles — a natural fit for food-and-beverage, brewery, or dairy environments where hygiene protocols are the norm.
The 4 m retro-reflective range uses a reflector (sold separately) and handles clean, dry targets at that distance. For dusty or wet conditions, derate the sensing distance — the visible red beam helps with alignment during commissioning. The 330 µs response time is adequate for most conveyor and packaging applications but not for high-speed pick-and-place. Operating voltage spans 10–30 VDC, and the PNP output sinks up to 100 mA — enough to drive a PLC input directly or a small relay. The M12 4-pin connector (standard A-coded) mates with common field-wireable cordsets. Light / Dark ON switching is selectable via the teach-in or wiring, so the same part handles both presence and gap detection without a different model number.
