What this combination starter does
The Siemens 3RA1225-4AB25-1BF4 is a reversing combination starter in the SIRIUS S0 frame, rated for 11-16 A and controlled by a 230 VDC coil. It integrates a reversing contactor pair, a motor protection switch (MSP), and auxiliary contacts into one DIN-rail or panel-mount unit — saving panel space compared to wiring separate components for a reversing motor circuit. The 230 VDC control voltage means the coil is designed for DC control circuits, common in applications where a DC bus or battery-backed control supply is used. The MSP provides adjustable overload protection for the motor branch, and the built-in auxiliaries (one SPDT NO/NC from the MSP, one NO from the contactor) give feedback for PLC inputs or status indication without adding separate blocks.
The 11-16 A rating covers IEC motor sizes in that band; verify the motor FLA and the MSP's adjustable range against your load. The UL file E156943 (Vol.1 Sec.14) is accepted for UL 508A panels in North American installations.
