What this reversing starter is built for
The Siemens 3RA2210-1FA15-2AP6 is a non-fused reversing motor starter from the SIRIUS family, Size S00. It combines a 3RT2015-1AP62 contactor and a thermal bimetallic overload relay in a single package, so you get forward/reverse control and motor protection without wiring up two separate contactors and an overload block. If you are protecting a submersible pump or a high-inertia load that needs a slower trip curve, this is not the part; you would need a Class 20 or 30 unit. Rated for AC-3 switching up to 690 V, it handles the inrush of squirrel-cage motors at line voltage. The thermal overload is bimetallic — no electronic adjustments, no ambient-compensation drift worries in a -20 to +60 °C panel.
Mounting position is vertical only — horizontal mounting would affect the bimetallic trip curve and is not allowed. The S00 footprint is 90 mm wide by 170 mm tall by 97.1 mm deep, so it occupies about the same panel width as a standard IEC contactor of this frame size. Clearance requirements: 20 mm upwards, 10 mm downwards, 9 mm at the sides. Zero clearance forwards or backwards, so it can sit flush against a panel backplate or next to other S00 devices without derating.
