Reversing starter for tight panel builds
The 3RA2215-0AD15-2AK6 is a SIRIUS non-fused reversing motor starter — two contactors in one housing with a mechanical interlock, so forward and reverse direction switching is built into a single footprint. At size S00, it saves panel width compared to wiring two separate contactors plus the interlock. It snaps onto 60 mm busbar systems, which is the standard for Siemens SIRIUS distribution. The supplied busbar adapter 8US1251-5DS10 and link module 3RA1921-1DA00 are included — no extra parts to chase for the busbar feed. Mounting position is vertical. The 90 mm width and 200 mm height fit a standard 200 mm deep enclosure; the 155.1 mm depth leaves room for wiring ducts behind the DIN rail.
The overload is thermal bimetallic, which follows the motor's I²t heating curve naturally. Ambient temperature compensation is built in; the operating range is -20 to +60 °C. The short-circuit trip is magnetic, coordinated with the supplied circuit breaker 3RV2011-0AA15 for Type 2 coordination — the contactor welds stay intact under a short, minimizing downtime on a fault.
Voltage and power dissipation envelope
Rated insulation voltage is 690 V, and the AC-3 maximum operating voltage is also 690 V. That covers 400 V, 480 V, and 575 V systems without derating — common across European and North American industrial voltages. Power dissipation is spec'd per voltage: 40 W at 400 V, 40 W at 500 V, and 60 W at 690 V. At 690 V the higher dissipation means the adjacent devices in the panel need a bit more breathing space — account for it in the thermal layout. Operating frequency is 50 to 60 Hz, and the coil operating range is 93.5 to 121 V at 50 Hz and 96 to 132 V at 60 Hz. That covers standard 110 V and 120 V control voltages.
Clearances and wiring access
Clearance requirements for the reversing starter: 20 mm upwards, 10 mm downwards, 9 mm at the side. Forwards and backwards clearance are 0 mm — the housing can sit flush against the back panel or enclosure door. For AWG, that is 2 × (20 to 16) for the contactor and 2 × (18 to 14) plus 2 × 12. The range covers most motor leads up to about 4 kW at 400 V. The supplied contactor is 3RT2015-1AK62, the RS assembly kit is 3RA2913-1DB1. All sub-assembly part numbers are on the rating plate — useful when ordering spares for the reversing interlock.
