The Siemens 3RA2215-1AA15-2BB4 is a non-fused reversing motor starter from the SIRIUS 3RA2 family, size S00. It combines a contactor pair for forward/reverse direction switching with a thermal bimetallic overload relay (Class 10 trip class) and a magnetic short-circuit trip in one compact unit — no separate overload relay or contactor assembly needed. The supplied contactor is a 3RT2015-1BB42 and the link module is 3RA1921-1DA00 — these are factory-integrated, not field-assembled.
Mounting and panel fit — S00 footprint on DIN rail
Mounting position is vertical. Dimensions: 170 mm height, 90 mm width, 97.1 mm depth — the S00 frame size keeps the panel footprint tight for a reversing starter. Clearance requirements: 20 mm upwards, 10 mm downwards, 9 mm at the sides, zero forwards or backwards. This matters when laying out multiple starters in a row — the side gap is minimal, but the top and bottom need room for wiring and heat dissipation.
Motor power ratings across common voltages
Power and current vary by supply voltage: 0.1 hp at 230 V, 550 W at 400 V, 1.6 A at 480 V, 550 W at 500 V, 1.3 A at 600 V, 1100 W at 690 V. Also rated 0.75 hp at both 460/480 V and 575/600 V — useful for North American motor nameplates. The magnetic short-circuit trip handles fault clearing without relying on upstream fuses for low-level faults.
Environmental limits and wiring
Operates from -20 °C to +60 °C, stores from -50 °C to +80 °C, and transports from -55 °C to +80 °C. Pollution degree 3 — suitable for industrial environments with conductive dust or humidity. AWG equivalents: 2×(20-16), 2×(18-14), or 2×12 for the contactor side. The reversing starter ships as a single orderable unit — no separate overload or contactor to source.
