Reversing starter with integrated overload and short-circuit protection
The Siemens 3RA2220-0HB23-0AK6 is a SIRIUS non-fused reversing motor starter, size S0, designed for direct-on-line reversing of three-phase motors up to 370 W at 690 V (180 W at 400 V). It combines a reversing contactor pair, a thermal bimetallic overload relay (Class 10 trip class), and a magnetic short-circuit trip in a single, pre-wired unit that snaps onto a 35 mm standard DIN rail.
Rated motor power and control voltage — what drives the fit
The motor power rating is voltage-dependent: 180 W at 400 V, 250 W at 500 V, and 370 W at 690 V. The control circuit accepts 88–121 V at 50 Hz or 96–132 V at 60 Hz — a common range for 110 V control transformers in European panels.
Thermal overload and short-circuit coordination
The short-circuit release is magnetic, providing instantaneous trip for fault currents. The supplied contactor (3RT2023-1AK60) and link module (3RA2921-1AA00) are coordinated for Type 2 coordination with the upstream circuit breaker (size S00), meaning the starter survives a short-circuit fault without damage to the contactor or overload relay.
DIN rail mounting and panel clearances
Snap-on fastening on 35 mm standard rail, vertical mounting position only. The footprint is 90 mm wide, 120 mm deep, and 265 mm tall. Required clearances for airflow and wiring: 30 mm upward, 10 mm forward, 10 mm downward, 9 mm at the sides, and 0 mm backward (flush to the rail).
Conductor sizing and supplied accessories
AWG equivalents are 2 × (16–12) or 2 × (14–8). The package includes the reversing contactor (3RT2023-1AK60), link module (3RA2921-1AA00), busbar adapter (3RA2922-1AA00), and an RH assembly kit (3RA2923-1BB1) — all pre-assembled for a single order code.
