Reversing starter package — two directions, one footprint
The 3RA2220-0KD23-0BB4 is a SIRIUS non-fused reversing motor starter — two contactors and a thermal overload relay in a single size S0 housing, saving panel space over two separate starters for bidirectional motor control. The 24 V DC control coil keeps the control circuit isolated from the power side — common in PLC-driven panels. The thermal bimetallic overload relay provides CLASS 10 trip protection, matching standard motor startup profiles for fans and pumps. Type of assignment 2 coordination means the starter clears a fault without damage to itself — the upstream short-circuit protective device must be sized per the coordination tables.
Mounting and clearances — busbar snap-on, vertical only
Snaps directly onto 60 mm busbar systems via the supplied busbar adapter (8US1251-5NT10). Mounting position is vertical only — horizontal mounting derates the thermal overload and may cause nuisance trips. Clearance requirements: 30 mm upwards, 10 mm forwards, 10 mm downwards, 9 mm at the sides, and 0 mm backwards. The 165 mm depth fits standard 200 mm deep enclosures with room for wiring ducts. Operating temperature range -20 to +60 °C, storage -50 to +80 °C. Degree of pollution 3 — suitable for industrial environments with conductive dust or occasional condensation.
Supplied components and wiring
The starter ships with the contactor (3RT2023-1BB40), link module (3RA2921-1BA00), busbar adapter (8US1251-5NT10), and RS assembly kit (3RA2923-1DB1) — everything needed for a reversing configuration except the upstream breaker. Main contact wire range: 1 to 10 mm² stranded, or 2x (2.5 to 6 mm²). AWG equivalents: 2x (16 to 12) or 2x (14 to 8). The circuit-breaker size is S00 — confirm the breaker frame matches the coordination study.
