Reversing starter for compact motor control
The 3RA2220-1CD23-0BB4 is a SIRIUS non-fused reversing motor starter in Size S0, combining a 3RT2023 contactor with a thermal bimetallic overload relay in one package. It snaps onto 60 mm busbar systems (vertical mounting only), saving panel space over a contactor-plus-relay build with separate reversing interlock wiring. Rated 750 W at 400 V (0.17 hp at 230 V, 1.5 hp at 575/600 V), with a maximum AC-3 switching voltage of 690 V — covers most IEC and NEMA motor voltages in one SKU.
Trip class and overload protection
The bimetallic overload is field-adjustable and compensates for ambient temperature shifts across the -20 to +60 °C operating range, so the protection tracks the motor's actual thermal state rather than a fixed curve.
What ships in the box
The starter arrives with the contactor (3RT2023-1BB40), the link module (3RA2921-1BA00), and the busbar adapter (8US1251-5NT10) — three pre-assembled pieces that clip together without additional wiring of the reversing interlock. Wire the main power terminals (1 to 10 mm² stranded, or 2x 2.5 to 6 mm²) and the 24 V coil; the reversing logic is handled inside the link module.
Panel fit and clearances
Dimensions are 165 mm deep by 90 mm wide by 260 mm tall — the depth is the key constraint when mounting on a busbar inside a shallow enclosure. Minimum clearances: 30 mm above, 10 mm in front, 10 mm below, 9 mm at the sides, and 0 mm behind — the rear face sits flush against the busbar, so no extra back-of-panel space is needed.
