Reversing contactor assembly for motor direction control
The Siemens 3RA2315-8XB30-2BB4-ZX95 is a SIRIUS reversing contactor assembly — two contactors mechanically interlocked so only one can close at a time, which is exactly what you need when a motor has to run forward and reverse without a mechanical interlock on the load side.
Motor ratings and duty cycles that decide the fit
AC-4 generates more arc energy than AC-3 because the contacts break current with the motor still under load, so the rating is lower — don't spec this on the AC-3 number if your application reverses under load.
Termination and panel integration
Both the main current circuit and the auxiliary/control circuit use spring-loaded terminals — no screw-torque check needed, just strip and push. Keep at least 6 mm clearance upwards, forwards, downwards, and to the sides — backwards clearance is 0 mm, so it can sit flush against the back panel. The contactor size is S00, which is Siemens' smallest frame — 90 mm wide, 84 mm high, 83 mm deep. That's tight enough to fit in a shallow enclosure or a crowded DIN rail next to a PLC.
Environmental limits and mechanical endurance
If your panel sits in an unheated warehouse or a hot compressor room, the -25 °C floor and +60 °C ceiling cover most industrial environments. The contactor has a typical mechanical life of 10,000,000 operations — that's the mechanical endurance of the contactor itself, not the electrical life under load.
Sourcing and lifecycle — current production, quoted to order
The coil is 24 V DC, spring-loaded terminals. If your control voltage is different, the 3RT2015-2BB42 contactors can be swapped for the appropriate coil-voltage variant — the reversing assembly kit and frame are the same.
