Reversing duty in a compact S00 footprint
The Siemens 3RA2315-8XE30-2BB4 is a factory-assembled reversing contactor assembly from the SIRIUS family, size S00. It integrates two contactors with a mechanical interlock so a single order code delivers the reversing pair ready to wire into a motor control panel. The 24 VDC coil keeps the control circuit isolated from the main power. Spring-loaded terminals on both the main current circuit and the auxiliary/control circuit mean no screwdriver needed for wiring — push in the ferruled stranded wire and the cage grips it. That saves time on a panel build where every terminal counts.
Panel fit and mounting flexibility
At 90 mm wide, 84 mm high, and 83 mm deep, this reversing assembly fits the standard S00 footprint — it occupies the same DIN rail space as a single S00 contactor plus the interlock hardware. Screw and snap-on mounting onto 35 mm standard mounting rail means it clips onto the rail and can be screwed down for vibration resistance. Mounting position is flexible: the assembly can be rotated +/-180° on a vertical surface and tilted forward or backward by +/-22.5°. That helps when the panel layout forces an odd angle. Clearance requirements are 6 mm upwards, forwards, and downwards, with zero clearance needed backwards — tight panel builders can pack it close to the backplane. The shock resistance rating of 10.5g at 5 ms and 6.6g at 10 ms (both AC and DC) means it holds up in industrial environments with vibration from nearby contactors or motor starts.
Wiring and terminal capacity
The spring-loaded design works with ferruled stranded conductors — no need to tighten screw terminals, which reduces wiring time and eliminates the risk of loose connections from thermal cycling. The supplied contactors are 3RT2015-2BB42-0CC0 and 3RT2015-2BB42, and the reversing assembly kit is 3RA2913-2AA2. If you already have those contactors in stock, the kit alone can be ordered separately for field assembly, though the factory-assembled unit saves labor. Mechanical life is rated at 10,000,000 operations typical for the contactor — that's the mechanical endurance of the switching mechanism, not the electrical life under load. For reversing duty where the motor stops and restarts in the opposite direction, the electrical life will be lower and depends on the switching frequency and load current.
