Reversing a motor load in a compact panel
The Siemens 3RA2316-8XB30-2AP0 is a SIRIUS reversing contactor assembly — two contactors mechanically interlocked in a single housing, so a forward/reverse motor direction change happens without a separate reversing starter or external wiring of the interlock.
Motor power and current across supply voltages
At 400 V the assembly delivers 4 kW; at 480 V the rated current is 7.6 A; at 600 V it reaches 9 A — covering common North American and IEC motor voltages from 200/208 V (2 hp) up to 575/600 V (7.5 hp). Maximum switching frequency is 750 operations per hour in AC-3 and AC-3e duty — adequate for most motor start/stop cycles but not for high-speed jogging.
Termination and wiring — spring-loaded throughout
Both the main current circuit and the magnet coil use spring-loaded terminals — no screw tightening needed, which cuts wiring time and eliminates vibration loosening on a reversing contactor that cycles frequently.
The assembly ships with two 3RT2016-2AP02 contactors pre-installed and interlocked — the order code covers the complete reversing starter, not a kit.
