What this reversing contactor assembly is
It ships with two 3RT2016-1DG47 contactors mechanically interlocked. The assembly uses screw-type terminals for both the main current circuit and the magnet coil, with a varistor surge suppressor built in across the coil. That varistor clips voltage spikes from inductive switching — no separate suppressor module to order. The S00 footprint is compact: 90 mm wide, 68 mm tall, 145 mm deep. Clearance around the unit: 6 mm upwards, forwards, downwards, and to the side; 0 mm backwards — it can sit flush against the back panel.
The AC-4 rating at the same 4 kW covers reversing and plugging duty — frequent starts, stops, and direction changes under load. If your application cycles the motor direction many times per hour, the AC-4 number is the one that governs contactor life. On 480 V systems, the assembly is rated 7.6 A and 5 hp; on 600 V, 9 A and 7.5 hp. The horsepower ratings at 200/208 V (2 hp), 220/230 V (3 hp), 460/480 V (5 hp), and 575/600 V (7.5 hp) let you match it to NEMA motor frames across common North American line voltages. Terminal capacity accepts solid or stranded conductors: 2x (0.5...1.5 mm²), 2x (0.75...2.5 mm²), and 2x 4 mm².
