Form factor and DIN-rail fit
The 3RA2317-8XB11-5BB4 is a SIRIUS reversing contactor assembly in frame size S00 — 90 mm wide, 68 mm tall, 73 mm deep. That means you can orient it to fit tight gland-plate clearances without a DIN-rail adapter. Clearance around the assembly: 6 mm upwards, forwards, downwards, and to the side; zero backwards. So the back of the unit can sit flush against the panel backplate — no extra air gap needed behind it.
Motor ratings that matter for the BOM line
At 480 V and 600 V the current rating is 11 A — that is the continuous motor current it handles in reversing duty. The AC-4 rating (plugging / inching) is 4 kW at 400 V. The coil is 24 V DC with solder-pin connections — no separate control transformer needed if your panel runs 24 VDC control. The auxiliary contact block has 2 instantaneous contacts, and the assembly supports adding more auxiliary switches (product extension auxiliary switch: yes).

The 3RA2317-8XB11-5BB4 comes as a factory-assembled reversing pair: two 3RT2017-1BB42 contactors (one per direction of rotation) plus the 3RA2913-2AA1 mechanical interlock kit. No need to source the interlock separately — it is included. The main, auxiliary, and control circuits terminate via solder-pin connectors, so expect to wire it with ring or fork terminals on the pins.
