What's in the box — two contactors, one assembly
This is a Siemens SIRIUS reversing contactor assembly, order code 3RA2317-8XB30-1AF0. It ships with two 3RT2017-1AF02 contactors already wired in a mechanical interlock — you get the reversing pair in one DIN-rail footprint, not two separate units you have to interlock yourself. The assembly is frame size S00, which is the smallest SIRIUS contactor frame.
Motor ratings that decide the fit
At 400 V, the assembly is rated 5.5 kW for a three-phase motor load. At 480 V and 600 V the current rating is 11 A — that's the thermal ceiling for the main contacts in AC-3 duty. Maximum switching frequency in AC-3 or AC-3e duty is 750 operations per hour — this is a reversing starter for frequent jogging or inching applications, not a continuous-duty contactor.
Termination and wiring
Both the main current circuit and the magnet coil use screw-type terminals.
Environmental and mechanical limits
The assembly can handle shock at 11.4 g for 5 ms and 7.3 g for 10 ms on both AC and DC axes. Clearance requirements: 6 mm upwards, forwards, downwards, and to the side; 0 mm backwards (flush to the rail). Mechanical life of the contactor is rated 10,000,000 operations typical. The 750 operations/hour ceiling in AC-3 duty means the mechanical life translates to roughly 13,000 hours of continuous jogging at max rate — a question of when, not if, for high-cycle reversing stations.
The assembly ships as a complete unit with both contactors and the mechanical interlock pre-assembled. For volume or project pricing, submit an RFQ with your target quantity and delivery window.
