Built from two 3RT2017 contactors, pre-assembled and interlocked
The 3RA2317-8XB30-2AK6 is a Siemens SIRIUS reversing contactor assembly. It ships as a single unit containing two 3RT2017-2AK62 contactors, mechanically and electrically interlocked so the forward and reverse contactors cannot close simultaneously. This saves panel space and wiring time compared to building the interlock yourself with two separate contactors and a mechanical linkage. The assembly occupies the same DIN-rail footprint as a single S00 contactor — 90 mm wide, 84 mm tall, 83 mm deep.
Motor ratings that govern the real load
Horsepower ratings run from 1.5 hp at 200/208 V up to 10 hp at 575/600 V. For reversing duty on a motor, the AC-4 rating at 400 V is 4 kW — that's the figure to use if the motor plugs or reverses frequently under load. Mechanical life is listed at 10 million operations typical — that's the contactor mechanism, not the electrical contacts under load.
Termination and mounting — what connects where
The magnet coil also uses spring-type terminals — no screwdriver needed for the coil wiring either. The assembly can be rotated ±180° on a vertical surface and tilted forward or backward ±22.5° — useful when the panel layout forces an odd angle. Vibration resistance is 11.4 g at 5 ms and 7.3 g at 10 ms for both AC and DC.
