What this reversing assembly drops into
The 3RA2338-8XE30-1NB3 is a SIRIUS reversing contactor assembly — two contactors mechanically interlocked in a single S2 frame, so it handles forward/reverse motor control without extra external wiring for the interlock. It ships with two contactors: 3RT2038-1NB30-0CC0 and 3RT2038-1NB30, both pre-assembled and wired for reversing duty — no need to source and build the pair yourself.
Mounting and clearance — the numbers that matter for panel fit
Width is 120 mm, height 141 mm, depth 130 mm — the S2 frame is compact enough to fit a standard 600 mm deep enclosure with room for wiring ducts. Clearance requirements: 10 mm upwards, forwards, downwards, and to the side; 0 mm backwards — so the back can sit flush against the mounting plate, but you need breathing room on every other face for heat dissipation and arc flash.
Termination and wire range — screw terminals, no special tooling
Main circuit terminals accept 2x (1... 35 mm²) solid or 1x (1... 50 mm²) — covers everything from 10 AWG to 1/0 AWG for the power wiring. DC coil range is 20... 33 V — common for 24 VDC control systems with a tolerance band for voltage drop on long runs.
Environmental and mechanical life
Operating temperature range -25... +60 °C; storage range -55... +80 °C — rated for most industrial enclosures without active cooling, but derate if ambient exceeds 60 °C. Mechanical life of the contactor typical is 10,000,000 operations — the reversing assembly's mechanical interlock wears at the same rate as the contactors themselves. Vibration resistance: 12g at 5 ms and 7g at 10 ms AC — adequate for most machine-mounted applications, but not rated for extreme shock like stamping presses.
