Star-delta contactor assembly — what's inside and what it fits
The 3RA2416-8XF31-2AF0 is a Siemens SIRIUS pre-assembled star-delta (wye-delta) contactor assembly. It ships with three contactors: two 3RT2017-2AF01 units for the line and delta legs, and one 3RT2015-2AF01 for the star leg — all spring-loaded on the main and control circuits. The coil is 110 V, 50/60 Hz common — no separate coil voltage variant needed for mixed-frequency panels. Frame size S00 means this assembly fits the narrow 45 mm width per contactor footprint on 35 mm DIN rail. The supplied RS assembly kit (3RA2913-2BB2) ties the three contactors mechanically and electrically — no loose bus bars to source.
Mounting and wiring — what the DIN rail and terminals demand
The assembly can be rotated ±180° on a vertical surface and tilted forward or backward ±22.5° — useful when the panel layout forces an odd orientation. Clearance around the unit: 6 mm upward, downward, and to the sides; 0 mm backward (flush to the rail). The auxiliary and control circuit terminals are also spring-loaded. No screw torque to check — strip, insert, done. Dimensions: 135 mm wide by 84 mm high by 145 mm deep. That depth includes the contactor bodies and the RS assembly kit — measure the enclosure depth before committing, especially in shallow back-panel cabinets.
Duty cycle and mechanical endurance
Rated for 10 million mechanical operations typical — this is the contactor assembly's mechanical life, not the electrical endurance at full load. The maximum switching rate in AC-3 duty is 1,000 operations per hour. The unit is rated for vibration at 10.5 g / 5 ms and 6.6 g / 10 ms on both AC and DC supplies — suitable for machine-mounted panels near rotating equipment. No auxiliary switch is fitted as standard (product extension auxiliary switch: No). If you need early-make or late-break signalling, plan to add a separate auxiliary contact block on the DIN rail next to the assembly.
Sourcing and compliance — current lifecycle, no successor
RoHS compliance date is 10/01/2009 — the assembly meets the EU RoHS directive as of that date.
