Star-delta contactor assembly, S00 frame — what fits in the panel
The 3RA2416-8XH31-2BB4 is a pre-assembled star-delta (wye-delta) starter from the Siemens SIRIUS family, built on the S00 contactor frame. It ships with three contactors already wired: two 3RT2017-2BB41 units (one with a -0CC0 variant) and one 3RT2015-2BB41, plus the RS assembly kit 3RA2913-2BB2. The assembly measures 145 mm deep, 135 mm wide, and 84 mm high — the S00 footprint fits standard 35 mm DIN rail with screw or snap-on fastening. No screw torque to verify — the spring cage holds the conductor and the connection is vibration-resistant.
Power ratings and duty — what the AC-3 numbers mean
The AC-3 duty rating covers starting and stopping of squirrel-cage motors — the contactor makes and breaks the motor current at full load, not just the inrush. The maximum operational voltage is 690 V AC-3. The magnet coil operates at 24 V DC with a closing power of 10 W. The coil connection uses spring-type terminals, same as the power circuit. Mechanical life of the contactor is typical 10 million operations. The assembly withstands vibration at 10.5 g / 5 ms and 6.6 g / 10 ms on both AC and DC axes — relevant for machine-tool or conveyor applications with shock loads.
Operating environment and compliance
No bus communication or auxiliary switch extension is fitted on this variant. For short-circuit protection, the assembly requires gG NH 3NA, DIAZED 5SB, or NEOZED 5SE fuses rated 20 A with type of assignment 2.
