Star-delta starter, pre-assembled
The Siemens 3RA2417-8XE31-1BB4 is a SIRIUS contactor assembly purpose-built for star-delta (wye-delta) motor starting. It ships as a complete unit with three contactors already mounted and wired: two 3RT2018-1BB41-0CC0 (or 3RT2018-1BB41) for the line and delta legs, and one 3RT2016-1BB41 for the star leg.
Mounting and wiring constraints
Clearance requirements: 6 mm upwards, forwards, downwards, and to the side; zero clearance needed backwards. The envelope is 68 mm high, 135 mm wide, and 145 mm deep — compact for a three-contactor assembly in size S00. All terminals — main, auxiliary, and control — are screw-type. For AWG, that's 2x (20...16) or 2x (18...14).
Fuse coordination and compliance
With assignment type 2 coordination, the required upstream fuses are gG NH 3NA, DIAZED 5SB, or NEOZED 5SE, all rated 25 A. This ensures the starter survives a short-circuit without damage to the contactors. Substance prohibited date is 10/01/2009 — the assembly complies with RoHS and REACH substance restrictions as of that date.
