The Siemens 3RA2417-8XF31-2AF0 is a factory-assembled contactor assembly for star-delta (wye-delta) motor starting, part of the SIRIUS family. It ships with three contactors already wired on a common mounting plate: two 3RT2018-2AF01 units for the line and star legs, and one 3RT2016-2AF01 for the delta leg. The mechanical life is 10,000,000 cycles typical, so this assembly outlasts most motor rewinds.
The included RS assembly kit (3RA2913-2BB2) handles the timing and interlock between the three contactors, so the transition from star to delta happens without shorting the windings. In a panel that sees direct sun or sits next to a hot process line, the +60 °C ceiling is the one to watch — derate the motor load if the ambient inside the enclosure pushes past that. Vibration resistance is listed at 11.4 g / 5 ms and 7.3 g / 10 ms on both AC and DC — this holds up on a machine frame or in a mobile equipment panel without the contactors chattering open.
