What ships in the carton — a complete star-delta kit
The 3RA2417-8XF31-2BB4: This is a pre-assembled SIRIUS contactor assembly for star-delta (wye-delta) starting, not a loose pile of parts. The kit includes three contactors: two 3RT2018-2BB41 units for the line and star legs, plus one 3RT2016-2BB41 for the delta leg, all wired to an RS assembly kit 3RA2913-2BB2. No holes in the box — the spring-type terminals on both main and control circuits mean the panel wireman lands the motor leads and coil supply directly without crimping ferrules on solid wire.
Motor power and coil — the ratings that decide fit
The magnet coil pulls 24 VDC with a closing power of 10 W — a standard PLC-level control signal, no separate control transformer needed. Fuse sizing for type 2 coordination calls for 25 A gG NH 3NA, DIAZED 5SB, or NEOZED 5SE fuses.
Panel fit and mounting flexibility
Size S00 frame, 135 mm wide by 145 mm deep by 84 mm tall. Fastens with screws or snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail. Clearance around the unit: 6 mm upwards, forwards, downwards, and to the side; 0 mm backwards against the mounting surface.
Environmental and mechanical endurance
Mechanical life is 10 million operating cycles typical. Shock resistance at 11.4 g for 5 ms and 7.3 g for 10 ms on both AC and DC — rated for industrial floor vibration. Maximum AC-3 switching rate is 1,000 operations per hour, so it handles frequent start-stop cycles on conveyors or pumps without derating.
Wiring terminals — spring-loaded, no tools needed
Main current circuit and auxiliary/control circuit both use spring-loaded terminals. No screwdriver torque check — push the conductor in until the spring seats. The instant-contact design (3 instantaneous contacts) means no auxiliary switch block is fitted; if you need feedback to the PLC, add one externally.
Compliance and substance restrictions
No bus communication function on this variant — it's a standalone electromechanical assembly, not a fieldbus node.
