Star-delta contactor assembly, S2 frame — what ships in the box
The 3RA2434-8XF32-1AG2 is a Siemens SIRIUS pre-assembled star-delta contactor assembly, not a bare contactor. It ships with three contactors: two 3RT2035-1AG20 units for the line and star legs, and one 3RT2026-1AG20 for the delta leg, plus the 3RA2933-2C RS assembly kit that ties them together mechanically and electrically.
Mounting and panel fit — screw-fixed, with tilt allowance
Fastened by screw fixing, not DIN rail. Dimensions are 177.5 mm wide, 142 mm high, and 223 mm deep — the depth is the dimension to watch when sliding this into a shallow enclosure. The contactor frame is S2, which is the physical size class that determines the mounting hole pattern and terminal spacing. Clearance around the assembly: 10 mm upwards, forwards, downwards, and to the side; 0 mm backwards (it can sit flush against the backplate). This is the minimum free air space for heat dissipation and arc flash containment.
Wiring terminals and cable sizing
For Type 2 coordination (no-weld on fault), the required fuse ratings are: gG NH 3NA, DIAZED 5SB, or NEOZED 5SE at 80 A. This is the fuse size that lets the contactor survive a bolted fault without welding the main contacts.
Duty cycle and mechanical endurance
Maximum switching rate in AC-3 duty is 1,000 operations per hour — about one start every 3.6 seconds. The mechanical life of the contactor typical is 10 million operations, which for a star-delta starter running at 10 starts per hour gives a service life well over 20 years before the contactor block needs replacement. The assembly is rated for shock at 18.5 g / 5 ms and 11.6 g / 10 ms — relevant if the panel is mounted on a vibrating machine base or near a press.
Lifecycle and sourcing — current stage, quoted to order
Sourced through independent distribution channels. The assembly includes the three contactors and the RS kit as a single orderable unit, which simplifies procurement versus sourcing the components separately.
