What this star-delta assembly delivers
The 3RA2436-8XF32-1AL2: It ships with three contactors: two 3RT2036-1AL20 units for the line and delta legs, and one 3RT2028-1AL20 for the star leg, plus the 3RA2933-2C RS assembly kit. The S2 contactor size means the assembly is built around the 3RT20 frame, which handles the mechanical and thermal demands of repeated starts. Rated for a maximum operating voltage of 690 V AC-3 and a switching frequency of 800 operations per hour at AC-3 maximum, this assembly is sized for continuous process lines where the start cycle repeats every few minutes.
Mounting and panel fit
Dimensions are 177.5 mm wide, 142 mm high, and 223 mm deep — the depth is the dimension to check first in a shallow enclosure, as it exceeds the panel depth of many compact cabinets. Fastening is by screw fixing, not DIN-rail snap-on. Clearance around the assembly: 10 mm upwards, forwards, downwards, and to the side; 0 mm backwards — meaning the back of the unit can sit flush against the panel wall, which helps in tight enclosures.
Wiring and termination
All terminals — main current circuit, magnet coil, and auxiliary contacts — use screw-type terminals. The required upstream fusing for type 2 coordination is specified: gG NH 3NA, DIAZED 5SB, or NEOZED 5SE at 80 A. This matters for the panel builder sizing the branch circuit protection — using the wrong fuse class voids the coordination claim.
Environmental limits and shock resistance
The 60 °C ceiling is typical for IP20 enclosed gear in ventilated cabinets — if the panel ambient exceeds this, derating applies. Shock resistance is rated at 18.5g for 5 ms and 11.6g for 10 ms under AC conditions — figures that cover most industrial vibration environments short of direct hammer-mill mounting.
Lifecycle and sourcing
It is not a phase-out or NRND line.
