What this star-delta assembly delivers
The 3RA2446-8XF32-1AC2 is a pre-assembled SIRIUS star-delta contactor combination for wye-delta starting of three-phase motors. It ships with two 3RT2046-1AC20 contactors for the line and delta legs and one 3RT2037-1AC20 for the star leg, plus the interlocking RS assembly kit 3RA2943-2C.
Mounting and panel fit
The 220 mm width and 244 mm depth mean it occupies roughly a 9-inch wide footprint on the rail — plan the enclosure backplate accordingly. Mounting position is flexible: the assembly can be rotated ±180° on a vertical surface, and tilted forward/backward ±22.5°. Minimum clearances around the unit are 10 mm upwards, forwards, downwards, and to the sides, with 0 mm clearance needed at the rear. The contactor size is S3, with a typical mechanical life of 10 million operating cycles.
Wiring and protection requirements
Auxiliary and control circuits also use screw terminals. Upstream short-circuit protection requires a 160 A fuse — gG NH 3NA, DIAZED 5SB, or NEOZED 5SE types are specified. Maximum switching frequency in AC-3 duty is 850 operations per hour — sufficient for most starting applications but a constraint for high-cycle jogging or inching.
Environmental and compliance
The assembly withstands vibration at 10.6 g / 5 ms and 6.3 g / 10 ms (AC rating). RoHS compliance effective from 03/01/2017 — the assembly meets EU substance restrictions for new installations.
