What this Sirius coupling module does on your reversing starter
This is the 3RA2711-2DB00, a Sirius coupling module that sits between your communication-capable contactor and the fieldbus. It's designed specifically for reversing starters — the module handles the logic that swaps the motor direction without needing a separate PLC output for each contactor coil. It snaps onto the front of a 3RT20…-…..-0CC0 contactor (sizes S00, S0, S2, or S3) and brings IO-Link or AS-i communication directly to the starter assembly.
Mounting and wiring — the fit reality
The module measures 45 mm wide, 39 mm high, and 75 mm deep — it adds about 75 mm of depth to the contactor stack. Mounting position is any orientation, so you can tuck it into tight panel corners. The removable terminal block for auxiliary and control circuits means you can pre-wire the harness off the panel and snap the module on after. Wire sizing is forgiving: single or dual conductors from 0.25 to 1.5 mm², or 24 to 16 AWG for the auxiliary contacts. The spring-cage terminals hold solid wire or ferruled stranded without retightening — saves time on a panel with a dozen starters.
Environmental and electrical limits that matter
The module operates from -25 to +60 °C, stores and ships at -40 to +80 °C. It's rated for 11 g shock at 15 ms and vibration at 10–55 Hz, 0.35 mm — solid enough for machine-tool or conveyor applications. EMC immunity meets IEC 60947-1 ambient A (industrial sector), and the module survives 8 kV electrostatic discharge per IEC 61000-4-2. The built-in varistor surge suppressor handles the inductive kick from the contactor coil — no external snubber needed on the reversing pair. Installation altitude is limited to 2000 m above sea level — above that, derate the insulation and ambient temperature per IEC 60947-1. The module is classified as equipment type K per EN 61346-2 and IEC 81346-2 (contactors/starters).
