What this AS-i module does — star-delta starting on the bus
The 3RA2712-1CB00 is a Sirius basic module that adds AS-i bus communication to a star-delta (wye-delta) starter assembly. It plugs onto the front of a communication-capable Siemens contactor (3RT20…-…..-0CC0 series) — no separate DIN rail mount needed. Control supply is 24 V DC, the standard industrial bus voltage. It handles star-delta starting logic over the AS-i network, meaning the transition timing and motor protection can be managed from the PLC rather than a separate timer relay.
Mounting and wiring — fits which contactors, what wire sizes
The module snaps onto the front of contactor frame sizes S00, S0, S2, or S3. That covers the common Siemens contactor range from small auxiliary to 65 A motor switching. Mounting position is any orientation. Screw-type terminals accept solid wire 0.5–4 mm² or two conductors 0.5–2.5 mm². AWG equivalent is 20–14 for two conductors. The terminal block is removable — you can pre-wire the harness and snap it onto the module during panel assembly.
Environmental and EMC — industrial panel conditions
Rated for industrial ambience A per IEC 60947-1 on both emissions (CISPR 11) and immunity. ESD withstand is 8 kV contact per IEC 61000-4-2; radiated field immunity is 10 V/m per IEC 61000-4-3. This means it's qualified for installation near VFDs, welding gear, and switching power supplies without extra shielding. Pollution degree 3 (conductive pollution or dry non-conductive that becomes conductive with condensation) — typical for control panels in industrial floors. Vibration resistance is 11–55 Hz at 0.35 mm displacement; shock resistance is 11 g for 15 ms. The IP20 front protection is finger-safe per IEC 60529, adequate for enclosed panels.
Insulation voltage and altitude — system voltage limits
Maximum installation altitude is 2000 m above sea level without derating.
