What this 32 A compact starter handles
The 3RA6120-2EP32 is a SIRIUS compact direct starter rated for continuous operation per IEC 60947-6-2, meaning it switches and protects a motor load in one DIN-rail footprint without separate contactor and overload relay wiring. At 480 V it carries 32 A; at 400 V the motor power rating is 15 kW. The adjustable trip class (CLASS 10 and 20) lets you match the overload release to the motor start profile — CLASS 10 for fast-starting pumps or fans, CLASS 20 for higher-inertia loads like conveyors that take longer to reach speed.
The control circuit is screw-terminated. Two LED indicators show operating status. The control voltage is AC/DC 110–240 V at 50/60 Hz, so it works on either a 120 V or 240 V control transformer without a separate power supply module.
Environmental and mechanical endurance
Rated for pollution degree 3 (industrial environments with conductive dust or condensation) and operates from -20 to +60 °C ambient. It survives storage and transport from -55 to +80 °C. Shock resistance is 6g (60 m/s²) with 10 ms pulses in all axes; vibration resistance covers 4–5.8 Hz at 15 mm amplitude and 5.8–500 Hz at 20 m/s² for 10 cycles — suitable for mounting on a machine frame or in a mobile equipment panel. Power dissipation is 5.2 W AC and 5.8 W DC — negligible for panel heating calculations in a ventilated enclosure, but worth noting if the panel is sealed and densely packed.
