The 3RA6400-2BB43: It integrates a contactor, overload relay, and short-circuit protection into a single 45 mm wide package that snaps onto a DIN rail — no separate wiring between components. The 24 V DC control coil is standard for PLC-driven panels, and the built-in IO-Link interface (COM2, 38.4 kBaud) enables parameter adjustment, diagnostics, and status monitoring from the controller.
Fault-current and motor protection specs
Rated short-circuit breaking capacity is 53 kA at 400 V — high enough for most industrial panel main bus feeds without needing a current-limiting upstream device. The overload trip class is adjustable between Class 10 and Class 20 — set Class 10 for standard motor starting (e.g. pumps, fans) and Class 20 for high-inertia loads that need a longer acceleration ramp. Mechanical life is 10 million cycles typical, and the no-load switching frequency reaches 3600 cycles per hour — suitable for frequent start-stop applications like conveyors or packaging machines.
Panel integration and environmental ratings
Power dissipation is 2.9 W at DC — minimal heat load in a crowded panel, but still worth considering if multiple starters are ganged in a sealed enclosure. Shock resistance is 6g (60 m/s²) and vibration resistance covers 4–500 Hz at 20 m/s² — survives on vibrating machinery like compressors or conveyor drives.
Status indication and wiring
Three onboard LEDs provide local status indication — typically power, communication, and fault — so a technician can read the state without a handheld tool. IO-Link transfer rate is COM2 (38.4 kBaud), which handles parameter sets and diagnostic data for a single starter without saturating the IO-Link master cycle time.
