Compact starter with IO-Link — 4 A, 53 kA breaking capacity
The 3RA6400-2CB42: The adjustable trip class (CLASS 10 and 20) lets you match the thermal overload curve to the motor start profile: CLASS 10 for short acceleration times like pumps and fans, CLASS 20 for high-inertia loads like conveyors or crushers that need a longer start ramp.
IO-Link integration and terminal wiring
IO-Link protocol is supported at COM2 transfer rate (38.4 kBaud), so the starter communicates process data (current, status, trip diagnostics) back to the IO-Link master without a separate fieldbus coupler — the same M12 cable carries power and data. Three status LEDs on the front give local indication of run, fault, and communication status. Supply voltage is 24 V DC nominal (24... 24 V), with a maximum power consumption of 2.9 W at DC — the control supply can share a standard 24 VDC panel power supply without derating for inrush.
Mounting and environmental ratings
Operating temperature range is -20 to +60 °C, storage and transport -55 to +80 °C — suitable for unheated enclosures in temperate climates. Pollution degree 3 means it tolerates conductive dust and humidity typical of industrial control panels. Shock resistance is 6g (60 m/s²) with 10 ms pulses, 3 shocks per axis; vibration resistance covers 4 to 5.8 Hz at 15 mm amplitude and 5.8 to 500 Hz at 20 m/s² for 10 cycles — meets the mechanical robustness needed for machine-mounted panels on conveyors or presses.
