The 3RA6500-1DB42 is a SIRIUS compact reversing starter — a single device that handles forward/reverse motor control, overload protection, and communication in one 90 mm wide package. Adjustable trip class (CLASS 10 and 20) lets you match the thermal overload curve to the motor start profile: Class 10 for fast-starting loads like centrifugal pumps, Class 20 for higher-inertia loads such as fans or crushers where the start current duration exceeds 10 seconds.
IO-Link integration and wiring flexibility
Built-in IO-Link at COM2 (38.4 kBaud) gives the starter direct parameter access and diagnostics over a standard M12 connection — you can read motor current, trip counts, and thermal capacity utilization without running additional sensor cables back to the PLC. The 24 V DC control supply is separate from the main power circuit, so the IO-Link communication stays live even when the motor contactor is off. Five integrated LEDs provide local status indication for power, communication, and fault conditions — useful during commissioning or line-side troubleshooting without needing a handheld tool.
Mounting and environmental tolerance
Mounts on standard DIN rail (35 mm) with screw and snap-on fastening — the 90 mm width and 170 mm height fit a standard 200 mm deep enclosure with room for cable bending. Any mounting position is permitted, though vertical orientation on horizontal DIN rail is recommended for optimal heat dissipation. Operating temperature range of -20 to +60 °C covers most indoor panel environments; storage and transport tolerance from -55 to +80 °C means the unit can sit in an unheated warehouse or ship in non-climate-controlled freight without damage. Rated for shock resistance of 60 m/s² (6g) and vibration per IEC 60068-2-6 (10 cycles, 4–500 Hz at 20 m/s²) — suitable for installation on machine-mounted sub-panels near rotating equipment or conveyors.
