12 A reversing starter with IO-Link — what the ratings mean on the line
The 3RA6500-1DB43: The adjustable trip class (Class 10 or 20) lets you tune the overload protection to the motor start profile — Class 10 for fast-starting loads like pumps, Class 20 for high-inertia loads like conveyors or fans. The 24 V DC control voltage is standard for PLC-driven panels; the IO-Link COM2 (38.4 kBaud) interface gives the PLC direct access to the starter's diagnostics, current draw, and trip status without extra wiring.
Dimensions are 170 mm high, 90 mm wide, 165 mm deep, so it fits a standard 200 mm deep enclosure without crowding the door. Rated for pollution degree 3 (industrial environment with conductive dust or moisture), operating temperature -20 to +60 °C, and storage/transport -55 to +80 °C. Shock resistance is 6g for 10 ms per 3 shocks in all axes; vibration resistance covers 4 to 5.8 Hz at 15 mm amplitude and 5.8 to 500 Hz at 20 m/s² for 10 cycles — suitable for conveyor lines and machine tools.
Motor power and breaking capacity across voltages
At 400 V, the starter handles 5.5 kW (7.5 hp) motor loads. At 480 V it's rated 12 A continuous; at 600 V also 12 A. No-load switching frequency is 3,600 operations per hour — fine for frequent start/stop cycles on material handling. Power dissipation at DC control is 2.9 W, negligible for panel thermal budgeting. Five LED indicators on the front give local status of run, fault, and IO-Link communication without opening the panel.
