Reversing contactor for motor direction control
The 3RA9012-5AT20: This is the reversing set — two contactors mechanically interlocked so only one closes at a time, giving you forward/reverse direction switching for a motor without a separate reversing starter. The integral S (SIRIUS) designation means it's part of Siemens' modular motor starter system — the contactor mounts on a common bus system with overload relays and other control modules, standardizing the panel layout across multiple motor branches.
32 A rating and 24 VDC coil — what they mean on the line
32 A at the contactor rating means it switches motor loads up to roughly 15 kW at 400 V AC-3 duty (standard motor starting). The 24 VDC coil keeps the control circuit at a safe low voltage — common in PLC-controlled panels where the I/O rack supplies 24 VDC and you don't want line voltage in the control cabinet. The 2NC-2NC auxiliary contacts per contactor give you four normally-closed feedback signals total across the reversing pair. Two NC contacts per contactor means one set can wire into the opposite contactor's interlock circuit (preventing both from closing) while the other set reports contactor position back to the PLC.
