It mounts directly onto a contactor, saving DIN-rail space and simplifying the wiring between the contactor and the overload block. Rated for a CLASS 20E trip curve, this relay allows a longer starting duration — up to 20 seconds at 600% of the set current — making it a fit for high-inertia loads like fans, centrifuges, or crushers that need an extended acceleration ramp without nuisance tripping. The ATEX Ex II (2) GD approval means it can be installed in the non-hazardous area of a zone 2 gas or zone 22 dust application, protecting a motor that sits in the hazardous zone. The relay itself is mounted outside the hazardous area.
Fastening method is contactor mounting — the relay clips directly onto the front of a matching SIRIUS contactor (e.g., the 3RT2 series). This creates a compact motor starter assembly with no additional wiring between the contactor output and the overload input. The enclosure dimensions are 92 mm height, 55 mm width, and 109 mm depth — the depth is the dimension that projects forward from the contactor face. This allows zero-gap stacking vertically and only 6 mm lateral spacing between units.
Terminal and Wiring
Main current circuit terminals accept solid conductors from 0.5 to 4 mm² (or 2x 0.5 to 2.5 mm²) and stranded conductors from 1 to 35 mm² (or 2x up to 25 mm²). AWG equivalents: 2 x max. 4 AWG, or 1 x 18 to 2 AWG for the main contacts. Auxiliary and control circuit terminals are also screw-type, accepting 2x 20 to 14 AWG. Finely stranded wire with core-end processing: 0.5 to 2.5 mm², or 2x 0.5 to 1.5 mm².
The auxiliary contact block is rated for switching at various control voltages: 2 A at 24 V, 4 A at 120 V, 3 A at 230 V, and lower ratings for DC voltages — 0.55 A at 60 V, 0.3 A at 110 V or 125 V, and 0.11 A at 220 V. These are the make/break capacities for the signal contacts.
Environmental and EMC
Relative humidity during operation can reach 100%, so the relay handles condensing environments without derating. Shock resistance is 15g / 11 ms, suitable for panel-mounted equipment near rotating machinery or conveyors. EMC immunity to electrical fast transients (burst) per IEC 61000-4-4 is 2 kV on power ports and 1 kV on signal ports, severity level 3.
Substance prohibition date is 07/01/2006, aligning with the original EU RoHS directive (2002/95/EC).
