The Siemens 3RB2483-4AA1 is a SIRIUS electronic overload relay rated for 630 A operational current, designed to protect three-phase motor circuits against overload, phase failure, and phase imbalance. It communicates via IO-Link, giving the controller access to motor current data, trip counters, and parameter sets without extra wiring. Trip class is field-adjustable among CLASS 5, 10, 20, and 30, so one relay covers fast-acting (CLASS 5 for short thermal time constants) through slow-start (CLASS 30 for high-inertia loads) without stocking multiple variants.
The 630 A rated operational current (AC-1 / AC-3 per IEC 60947-4-1) sets the maximum continuous motor FLA the relay can pass. That rating places it squarely in large-motor territory — think 300 kW+ pumps or compressors on 400 V three-phase. The relay's size range S00..S12 means it mechanically mates with Siemens SIRIUS contactors in that same frame range; you're not adapting footprints. Auxiliary contacts: 1 NO + 1 CO, rated B300 / R300 per UL. That's enough for a standard trip-indication circuit plus a reset/status feedback to the PLC. The screw-type terminals on the control circuit accept 1x (0.5..4 mm²) or 2x (0.5..2.5 mm²) — solid or stranded — and 1x (20..12 AWG) for the auxiliary contact wiring. Surge voltage resistance rated at 4 kV, which is the standard impulse-withstand level for industrial control panels per IEC 60947-1.
Fastened for stand-alone installation — no DIN-rail clip, so you bolt it directly to the panel backplate or mount it on a contactor via the SIRIUS system's direct-mount interface. Mounting position any orientation. Dimensions: 111 mm high, 45 mm wide, 95 mm deep — the 45 mm width is a single modular unit, so three of these side-by-side fit a 135 mm-wide backplate slot.
