It's the kind of sensor you'd bolt onto a machine frame to detect ferrous targets without contact, out here in the grease where coolant spray and metal chips are part of the daily route.
Runs on 10 to 65 V DC, so it'll sit happily on a standard 24 VDC control bus or a 48 VDC plant loop.
