Field-mounted AS-i coupling module for IP67 zones
The Siemens 3RG9240-0AA00 is a PG-E coupling module that sits between the AS-Interface flat cable and field-mounted digital I/O modules (user modules) operating at IP67. It is designed for wall or standard rail mounting in the same enclosure as the I/O blocks, so the cable gland entry and sealing plane are part of the same IP67 boundary. The module accepts standard round AS-Interface cables via two PG11 glands and three screw plugs are included for unused ports. The EEMS interface handles the bus communication and passes power to the I/O modules at the AS-Interface specified voltage range of 26.5 to 31.6 V.
IP67 sealing and flat cable note
If the installation uses AS-Interface flat cables instead of round, shaped PG seals (order code 3RX9 805-0AA00) are required to maintain the IP67 seal at the cable entry. Standard round cable glands are supplied in the scope of delivery; flat cable requires the separate seal kit. The module carries a contact load rating of 4 A max, which governs the total current draw of the downstream I/O modules.
End-of-life sourcing reality
Because no direct replacement is published, a panel builder or MRO planner should verify that the mounting footprint (wall or standard rail), IP67 rating, and EEMS interface match the existing installation before committing a replacement part. The flat cable seal note (3RX9 805-0AA00) is a common gotcha — the module ships with round-cable glands, so a site using flat cable will need the separate seal kit.
