What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RH1122-1AQ60 is a SIRIUS auxiliary contactor in frame size S00, designed to switch control circuits — pilot lights, PLC inputs, contactor coils — based on the position of a main contactor or a separate command device. It carries two normally open instantaneous contacts, meaning the contacts close the instant the coil is energized with no intentional delay. Rated for 10 A at 24 V, it steps down to 6 A at 230 V and 1 A at 690 V — the voltage derating curve is typical for an air-break contact block, and the 690 V rating confirms it can switch control circuits in 400 V line-to-line panels without series-staging contacts. Surge voltage resistance is rated at 6 kV, which aligns with basic insulation coordination for a 400 V industrial panel; pollution degree 3 means it tolerates conductive dust and condensation without creepage failure.
Mounting and integration
Fastens via screw or snap-on onto a DIN rail — the snap-on feature lets a panel builder clip it directly onto the side of a SIRIUS contactor (size S00) without extra rail space, saving width in a crowded enclosure. The 45 mm width and 57.5 mm height fit the standard S00 footprint; depth is 72 mm, which is the coil-overhang dimension that must be clear of the enclosure door or rear panel. Mounting position is flexible: +/-180° rotation on a vertical surface, plus +/-22.5° tilt forward/backward — useful when the contactor is mounted on a swing frame or a non-vertical sub-panel.
Wiring and ratings
Terminals accept solid conductors from 0.5 mm² up to 4 mm², with dual-wire capability: two wires of 0.75–2.5 mm² or two of 0.5–1.5 mm² per clamp. This is typical for daisy-chaining control voltage through multiple auxiliaries. Contact reliability is specified as one incorrect switching operation per 100 million cycles at 17 V, 1 mA — a low-level signal rating that matters when the contactor feeds a PLC input rather than a power coil. Operates from -25 °C to +60 °C ambient; storage and transport range extends to -55 °C to +80 °C. Shock resistance is 10g at 5 ms and 5g at 10 ms — adequate for machine-mounted panels near presses or conveyors.
Lifecycle and sourcing
Substance prohibition compliance is dated July 1, 2006, which aligns with the original EU RoHS directive. The front carries IP20 protection — finger-safe but not washdown-rated, so keep it inside the enclosure.
