What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3RH1131-2JB40-ZW98 is a SIRIUS coupling relay — a Size S00 contactor-style device built to switch auxiliary circuits in control panels. It carries three normally-open instantaneous contacts rated 10 A at 24 V, with lower ratings at higher voltages (6 A at 230 V, 3 A at 400 V, 1 A at 690 V). The 24 V DC coil draws 2.3 W closing and holding, with a built-in diode surge suppressor.
Mounting and panel fit
Mounts via screw or snap-on onto a DIN rail. The 45 mm wide, 60 mm tall, 73 mm deep footprint is standard for the SIRIUS S00 frame. Mounting position is flexible: ±180° rotation and ±22.5° tilt on a vertical surface are allowed. The IP20 front protection means it's suited for enclosed panels where no water spray reaches the terminals.
Contact ratings and switching reliability
The three NO contacts are rated for switching at multiple voltage levels: 10 A at 24 V, 6 A at 230 V, 3 A at 400 V, 2 A at 500 V, and 1 A at 690 V. Contact reliability is specified at one incorrect switching operation per 100 million operations at 17 V, 1 mA — a figure that matters for dry-circuit or low-energy signal switching where oxide films on contacts can cause intermittent failures. Mechanical life is 30 million operations typical.
Environmental and compliance
Operates from -25 °C to +60 °C, stores and transports from -55 °C to +80 °C. Shock resistance is 10g at 5 ms and 5g at 10 ms. Pollution degree 3 (conductive pollution or dry non-conductive pollution that becomes conductive due to condensation). RoHS compliance date is July 1, 2006. Surge voltage resistance is rated at 6 kV.
